Since for most a blog is out of the question, effectively setting up a vacation home website is essential and should be considered necessary for every Outer Banks vacation home owner.
One of the first questions, that comes to ind for everyone is cost.  The cost can run from a couple dollars a month to tens of dollars.  It will all depend on what your are willing to invest into it.  It is usually true, You get what you pay for.  The monthly expense will come in the form of monthly web hosting.  For most home owners, it is advisable to find the cheapest possible hosting.  This can often be as low as $3 or $4 a month.  If you really search you can find it for even less.

One important part of creating your website is picking it’s URL.  What you choose is completely up to you.  Something not many home owners do, but many real estate agents capitalize on is using the home’s address.  Often a prospective guest will drive by you home and be interested in renting but know nothing but the address.  This is especially important for those who rent their homes themselves.  If you do rent your home yourself, you must remember to put a sign with your website address on the front of the home.  Make sure your potential renters know how to reach you.  After choosing an URL you will need to start creating the site itself.

Creating the site can be done in two ways.  Either you create it or pay someone to do it.  One true advantage of spending the money to have someone build the site for you, is the design should look more profesionally.  If you are savvy enough, it is quite possible to build a site yourself.  Most web hosts offer, some sort of template program that will allow you to create the site yourself.
